Before you come in

Common questions

Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?
Walk in for anything in the shop, repair assessments, recycling drop-offs, printing, digitising and browsing stock all need no appointment. For big jobs like a large media-digitising batch, it helps to call ahead so we can set time aside.
How long does a repair take?
Most common phone repairs, screens, batteries, charging ports, are done same-day. Laptop and more involved jobs are usually same-week, depending on parts availability. You'll get a diagnosis and a firm quote before any work starts.
What happens to my data during a repair or recycling drop-off?
We give backup advice before any repair that carries risk to your files. For recycling, any device with storage is securely wiped before it's processed, always, without you having to ask.
Is there a charge for recycling?
No charge for standard household items, phones, laptops, chargers, cables and peripherals. For larger items or bulk commercial quantities, ask us first so we can tell you what's involved.
What does "graded" mean on a refurbished device?
It's our honest condition rating covering both looks and function. Grade A is near-new with minimal marks; lower grades have visible wear but are fully working. Every unit is tested for battery health, ports, screen and performance before it goes on the shelf, and we'll show you the marks before you buy.
Can you always recover deleted files?
No, and anyone who promises otherwise isn't being straight with you. Recovery depends on how the data was lost and what's happened to the drive since, if new files have overwritten the old ones, they're gone. What we can do is assess it and tell you honestly what's recoverable before you commit to anything. Physically failed drives needing a clean-room lab are beyond what we do in store, and we'll say so rather than waste your money.
I've just deleted something important, what should I do?
Stop using the device and bring it in. Every extra file written to that drive or card risks landing on top of what you're trying to recover. Don't install recovery software onto the same drive, and don't keep taking photos on a card you've lost images from, both make the job harder and sometimes impossible.
Can you unlock a device I'm locked out of?
Sometimes, it depends entirely on the device and the type of lock, and modern phones in particular are often genuinely unbreakable by design. We only do this for the legitimate owner, so we'll ask for proof of ownership such as a purchase receipt or original packaging before starting. We don't unlock devices that can't be shown to be yours.
How long does virus removal take, and will I lose anything?
Most clean-ups are same-day. Your files stay put in the ordinary case, we remove the malware rather than wiping the machine. If an infection is bad enough that a rebuild is the honest answer, we'll tell you first and back your data up before touching anything.
Do you repair smartwatches?
Yes: Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Fitbit and most other brands, for cracked screens, worn-out batteries and charging problems. Bring the charger with you. Smartwatches are sealed with adhesive to keep water out, and once one has been opened we can't promise the original water rating, so we'll tell you that before any work starts. If a part isn't available or the repair costs more than the watch is worth, we'll say so.
What small appliances do you repair?
Everyday household appliances like vacuums, fans, hair dryers, clippers and small kitchen appliances. Bring it in and we'll tell you if it's worth fixing. Some cheap appliances cost more to repair than to replace, and we'll say so. Every repaired appliance is safety-tested before it goes back to you.
Which game consoles do you repair?
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, plus their controllers. Bring the console and its power cable if you can. Diagnosis is $40 and you get a firm quote before any work starts. If the fix isn't worth it compared to the cost of the console, we'll tell you.
Will I lose my saves or games during a console repair?
Most hardware repairs, like ports, fans and controllers, don't touch your storage at all. If a repair could affect the drive, we'll tell you before we start. Turn on cloud saves (PlayStation Plus, Xbox cloud saves or Nintendo Switch Online) beforehand if you can, it's the simplest backup there is.
Will my watch still be water-resistant after a battery change?
Opening the case back can affect the seal, so if your watch is rated water-resistant, tell us when you bring it in. We'll check the gasket and refit it carefully, but we can't promise the original water rating on a watch that's been opened, and we'll say so up front rather than after.
Do I need an appointment to get watch links removed?
No, walk in with it. Most metal bracelets are resized in a few minutes while you wait, and you keep the links we take out. Watch and car key batteries are walk-in jobs too.
Can I trade in my old device?
Yes, you can put an old device toward something new or refurbished. Trade values depend on model and condition, so bring it in and we'll assess it on the spot.
Ready when you are

Not sure which one you need?

Bring the device in and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth repairing, trading in, or recycling.
