Privacy policy.
How we handle your personal information, kept short and in plain English.
This is a plain-English template to get you started, please review it (and have it checked) before relying on it. It is not legal advice.
Last updated: July 2026. This policy explains how Electrical and Computer Services ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal information, in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to help you: your name and contact details when you call, email, fill in a form, or bring a device or job in; details of the product or service you are enquiring about; and, for repairs and data work, information about the device and the job.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, quote and carry out work, keep you updated, and meet our legal and tax obligations. We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing you have not asked for.
Who we share it with
Only where necessary, for example, the service that delivers our website contact form, or a courier or supplier involved in fulfilling your job. These providers handle your data on our behalf and only for that purpose.
Your device and your data
For repairs, data recovery and recycling, we treat the data on your device as confidential. We give backup advice before any risky job, securely wipe storage on recycled devices, and require proof of ownership before unlocking any device.
Keeping it safe, and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information and keep it only as long as we need it or the law requires.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and request a correction. For anything about your privacy, contact us on 022 699 6722 or via our contact page.
